Rinus van Schendelen, partner at Bureau Brussels., passed away on September 5, 2024.

Prof. dr M.P.C.M. van Schendelen, emeritus professor of Political Science at Erasmus University, Officer in the Order of Orange-Nassau; in his own words: “just call me Rinus”. The godfather of the profession, in The Hague and Brussels, is no more. Several obituaries have been published in which his publications and his passion are praised. He was the first to approach the lobbying profession systematically. In numerous books he removed the ambiguity surrounding the profession and described its structure and working method. His methodology is the basis for practicing the profession. The book ‘Machiavelli in Brussels’ became the standard. Rinus devoted himself to making accessible what Europe really implies. He was a source of guidance and support for Bureau Brussels.  Rinus, always curious, a broad view of the world, critical, great commitment, passionate, witty, a friend. We will miss him.
